The day I almost died.....
Part 1
The day was Sunday, 2nd July 2006, around 6 in the evening. We had just come back from Ankleshwar after our training at ONGC on Saturday early morning. I was coming back from F.C Road, where I went to buy a fish for Amruta's fish tank, which I gifted her on her birthday. I was with Priyam (my roommate) driving Amruta's Scooty Pep. I remember I had just hung up my mom's call on the Nalstop signal, when we talked about her plan as everyone (my parents and my brother) were coming to Bombay and I had to go there to meet them. Driving off from Nalstop, I decided to go from under Paud Phata, big mistake!!!!! Driving off, I see a bike .... and BAMMMM!!!!!
I was down. I could not open my left eye. I had something crawling on my nose. And there was blood all over my left knee. I managed to get up and look around. I saw another bike down, the guy a bloody mess, same as me. I managed to hop my way to the corner where I sat. Got my napkin out of my jacket and tied it around my knee. Wiped my face, leaving a load of blood on my palm. Priyam by now was getting the scooty away from the middle of the road. We then got into an auto and drove to Krishna Hospital. On the way, i remember asking Priyam how bad was it. He told me I had blood on my left eyebrow, my nose and my knee. I asked him about the scooty.... and the fish. It seemed I was more worried about those things, even more than myself. We got to the hospital. I remember, Priyam didn't have the money, so I paid for the auto.
Next thing, I was on a wheel chair, being taken inside the Emergency Room. I was laid down on the corner most bed. I gave all my stuff to Priyam and told him to call my mom. The nurse came and cleared off all the blood. She took a razor, and cleared off my wouded knee and my whole eyebrow. At that point I was just hoping that the razor she was using was safe, as in not infected, for obvious reasons. Soon my wounds were all dressed up. After dressing my knee, the stupid nurse is asking me "Is it hurting you?", of course it was paining, not because of the wound, but because the stupid female tied the dressing too tightly. Then she's asking me "Where else is it hurting?", I said nothing is paining, only I was having a major headache. As if someone had just smashed my head. I think that's exactly what had happend.
Then the doctor came and asked me whether I wanted to file a police case. I seriously didn't want to get into all those hassles, so I just refused. I clearly asked the doctor how bad it was. Some jibberish came out of his mouth, off which I could only understand that there was a real deep cut in my knee, deeper than a muscle tear, and a cut on my left eyebrow. He then directed me to the X-ray room. I was so intensely praying that it shouldn't be a fracture. I got my X-ray taken and asked the doctor on duty immediately whether there was a fracture or not. he then said the magic word - NO!!! I was thrilled to hear that. I didn't want a fracture I would be really really BORED if I were bed ridden for a couple of months. And thats what was hoping wouldn't be the case.
Now I exactly came to know what had happend to me. I had a partially torn tendon in the left knee and a deep cut on the left eyebrow. Sound real awesome!!!! So what needed to be done, what else ... a surgery. .............
